Rainy weather contributes to big rig accident

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - Rain caused traffic problems on Highway 129 south of Gainesville late Sunday night, according to Hall County authorities.

Hall County Sheriff's deputies said it all started around 10:00 p.m. when four vehicles were involved in wreck south of Wallace Road on Athens Highway southbound.

As that wreck was in the final clearing stages, a tractor trailer fully loaded with chickens slid off the shoulder of the roadway, which was slick because of the rain, and overturned.

Deputies said it took more than four hours to clear the mess. No one was seriously hurt.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating both accidents.
