GAINESVILLE - Calvary Church Road will be closed to through traffic between New Harvest Road and Chicopee Woods Elementary School, weather permitting, beginning Friday at 8 a.m. and will re-open the following Monday at 6 a.m.
C.W. Matthews Contracting will re-open the road briefly from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Friday to accommodate school dismissal. Traffic going to Chicopee Woods Elementary School any other time should access the school on Calvary Church Road via Poplar Springs Church Road.
The Calvary Church Road Improvement project includes widening the two existing lanes, improving the horizontal and vertical alignments, and installing turn lanes at the major intersections between Candler Highway and Chicopee Woods Elementary School. Hall County officials say improvements will accommodate commercial/industrial traffic in that area in a safer manner.
The completion date is estimated to be the end of October 2011. This project is funded with $4.2 million from SPLOST VI, the one-cent sales tax approved by voters for special projects.
