Dawson County to distribute free booster seats

By Staff
DAWSONVILLE - To assist area residents with children ages 6 and 7, who are now required to be in a child restraint when they are riding in a vehicle, Dawson County officials will distribute free booster seats this week to qualified families.

"This [law] may mean that some children who have been allowed to ride without a booster seat will have to return to using a seat," says Dawson County Emergency Services Chief Lanier Swafford.

Dawson County Emergency Services along with Georgia State Patrol and other occupant safety professionals will be conducting free child safety seat inspections at the Dawson County Health Department this Thursday from 9:00-11:00 a.m.

Residents are asked to bring 6- or 7-year-old children to the Dawson County Health Department July 28th. Low-back booster seats will be distributed as long as supplies last.
