Barrow County sting nets ninth suspect

STATHAM - An Alpharetta man is the latest suspect to be caught in a Barrow County undercover sting involving online sexual predators.

Matt Guthas with the Barrow County Sheriff's Department said Sridhar Marta, 38, was arrested when he traveled from Alpharetta to Statham to meet a 14-year-old girl for the purpose of having sex with the teen. That teenager, in reality, was an undercover investigator from the Statham Police Department who had been chatting online with Marta for two days. According to investigators, Marta suggested the meeting.

Marta is charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes and violation of the computer pornography child exploitation act.

Barrow County has been operating its undercover operation since September 2010, and with the arrest of Marta, has nabbed nine suspects in the sting.
