Georgia men to host first two rounds of NCAA tennis

ATHENS -- The University of Georgia men's tennis team was awarded an at-large bid to the 2011 NCAA Championships and will continue its season next weekend as it plays host to first and second round action on campus May 13-14.

The Bulldogs (20-5) received the No. 6 overall seed and will open the tournament at home against Southern Conference opponent Samford on Fri., May 13 at 1 p.m. at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

UNC Wilmington and SEC rival Auburn will also participate in the Athens regional, with the Seahawks and Tigers to square off at 10 a.m. on day one and the winner of each of the first round matches to play Sat., May 14 at 3 p.m. with a trip to the Round of 16 on the line. The later rounds and the individual tournament are set for May 19-30 at the Taube Tennis Center in Palo Alto, Calif., on the campus of Stanford University.
