Baseball: Warriors win 8-AAA despite loss in finale

CLEVELAND -- White County lost the battle against Franklin County Friday but still won the war in 8-AAA.

The Warriors fell 8-6 to the Lions in both teams' season finale but still won the Region 8-AAA title.

The loss dropped the Warriors (21-4, 20-4 in Region 8-AAA) into a three-way tie with Gainesville and North Hall but they ownede the tiebreakers over both teams to win the title.

Kyle Mills started and struck out eight in five innings but he also allowed six runs.

Luke Crumley had two hits, including a home run, and Hayden Cummins also had two hits and two RBI for White County. Brett Westmoreland had a home run for the Warriors.

White County next will play host to Carrollton in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs next week.
