By staff reports
RABBITTOWN -- East Hall built a 21-7 halftime lead and then held on down the stretch to beat cross-town rival Johnson, 28-21, Friday night.

The Vikings (1-1) got three touchdowns from Jamond Witt and one from Austen Mahaffey as they piled up 210 total yards, all on the ground.

But Johnson (0-2) got going in the second half behind Cedric Harris and Luke Gilleland. Harris finished 123 yards and two touchdowns while Gilleland had 125 yards and one touchdown.

The deciding play for the Vikings was a 90-yard punt return for a touchdown by Witt in the first half.

East Hall will look to keep things rolling next week when it plays host to Elbert County in Rabbittown.

Johnson will look to bounce back when it plays host to Chestatee next week.
