Volleyball: Late rallies doom West Hall in tri-match

OAKWOOD -- West Hall dropped a pair of tough matches to Buford and Jefferson Thursday in girls volleyball action.

The Lady Spartans led in both matches only to see both Buford and Jefferson rally for wins in deciding third games.

In the first match, West Hall led 1-0 after winning the opening game 27-25. But Buford won the next two games 25-14, 25-14 to take the match.

Laykin Herford led the Lady Spartans with 16 assists. Tonya Bennett and Stephanie Rowland each had five kills and four blocks for West Hall. Nicolette Ashley had 12 digs in the match.

Against Jefferson, West Hall again took a 1-0 lead after taking the opening game 25-16. But Jefferson rallied to win the next two games 25-18, 25-2to win the match.

Ashley had 13 digs while LaNiesha Kearse added three kills and five blocks for the Lady Spartans (11-9).

West Hall next will travel to East Jackson for a tri-match with Rabun County next Thursday.
