Volleyball: No. 9 West Hall has rough start in 8-AAA

OAKWOOD -- Class AAA No. 9 West Hall got off to rough start in Region 8-AAA Tuesday dropping a pair of matches in girls volleyball action.

Johnson knocked off West Hall 21-25, 25-15, 25-23 in a thrilling three-game match. West Hall then fell to Oconee County 25-10, 25-8 in the nightcap.

Laykin Herford paced West Hall (11-7, 0-2 in region) with 11 assists and one ace. Senior Gracie Allison had four kills and junior Stephanie Rowland added four kills and two blocks for the Lady Spartans.

Senior Nicolette Ashley had 18 digs and one ace.

For Johnson (5-10, 1-1) Kellsie Brisbois had two aces and three kills while, Brittany Panter added three aces. Lejavian Ratliff had two aces and two kills, Karis Sloan had three kills and three blocks, and Savannah Turk added three kills for the Lady Knights.

West Hall plays host to Buford and Jefferson on Thursday.
