Warriors pull out late win over East Jackson

By staff reports
COMMERCE -- White County rallied twice from six-point deficits and scored in the final two minutes to pull out a thrilling 21-14 win over East Jackson Friday night on the road.

Sophomore quarterback Cole Segraves passed for 150 yards and one score and ran for another 36 yards and one touchdown. Ashely Lowery accounted for more than 100 of the Warriors' total 305 yards with 52 yards rushing and one touchdown and caught two passes for 55 yards, including one touchdown.

Lowery scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 6-yard run. White County coach Gregg Segraves said it was exciting way to open the season.

"That was a great football game," he said. "East Jackson is a solid team. But I'm proud of how we found ways to keep coming back. This was a good win for us and a positive start to the season."

East Jackson led 7-0 in the first half but White County stormed back behind Segraves to take a 13-7 early in the second half. East Jackson would then retake the lead 14-13 early in the fourth quarter.

But White County mounted a late drive to reclaim the lead and then the White County defense held on down the stretch intercepting an East Jackson pass to preserve the win.

Lowery also had a stellar on defense with two interceptions and he caused a third on a tipped ball that was picked off by Ethan Eaton.
