Body of Gwinnett firefighter found at Roswell Park

By Staff
ROSWELL - A Gwinnett County firefighter missing since Monday has been found dead at Lita Thompson Park in Roswell.

Police said the death of David Carr, 47, of Woodstock does not appear to be suspicious.

"I have not been informed of [the discovery] of any weapon yet," Officer Lisa Holland with the Roswell Police Department told Fox 5 News. "The medical examiner is still there, still investigating it right now."

Carr was last seen Monday when he left home, telling his wife he felt like committing suicide. He did not show up for work Tuesday.

Holland said Carr's Jeep Wrangler was discovered last night at the park; authorities began a search just after 5:00 this morning and found Carr's body just after 10:00 a.m.

Capt. Thomas Rutledge with the Gwinnett Fire Department said, "We face tragedies every day, but when it involves one of our own, it hurts."

Carr was a 17-year veteran of the Gwinnett County Fire Department.
