Numbers up slightly for Gainesville, Hall schools

GAINESVILLE - Both Gainesville City and Hall County Schools reported an increase in enrollment on the first day of the 2010-2011 school year.

Gainesville School Superintendent Merriane Dyer said a total of 6,345 students showed up for classes today, an increase of 239. Hall County Schools, according to Superintendent Will Schofield, welcomed a total of 24,805 students today, 142 more than showed up on the first day of school last year.
