GAINESVILLE - Police say it happened around 6:50pm on Jesse Jewel parkway, west of Community Way, when the driver left the roadway and hit a utility pole. 40-year-old Sandra Tanner of Gainesville exited the westbound roadway, traveled approximately 145 feet and struck a utility pole. Authorities say Tanner was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center before being airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital. At last check, she was listed in stable condition.
Westbound Jesse Jewel Parkway was closed or partially closed for around 2 and a half hours while Georgia Power crews replaced the damaged pole and restored power to the area. Police are still trying to determine what caused Tanner to leave the roadway.
