G-Braves stay hot at the plate, beat Buffalo 7-2

LAWRENCEVILLE -- The Gwinnett Braves beat the Buffalo Bisons 7-2 in their series opener on Monday night at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville.

The G-Braves (33-38) put seven runs on the board for a second consecutive game, taking the first meeting of the year against the Bisons (36-35). Gwinnett remains 9.5 games back in 3rd place in the International League South, trailing division leader Durham. Buffalo remains 4.5 games behind Syracuse in 3rd place in the North division.

Gwinnett got its 2-in-1 again. For the second game in a row, the G-Braves kicked the game off with two runs in the 1st inning and rolled from there.

G-Braves starter Tim Gustafson (7-4), went 6.0 innings pitched to earn the win, allowing five hits and just one run while striking out two and walking four. Jeff Lyman, who went 1.0 inning of scoreless relief, left the game after walking Buffaloâ
