Freeman back in 9th District Congressional race

By Ken Stanford, Katie Highsmith
GAINESVILLE - Mike Freeman of Gainesville said he is getting back in the 9th District Congressional race.

The former Hall County Democratic Party Chairman confirmed his plans Tuesday afternoon but declined to comment further, saying he will do so tomorrow.

Freeman dropped out of the race two weeks ago saying he needed to devote more time to family matters. (See earlier story.)

He was the lone Democrat in the race to succeed Republican Nathan Deal. Deal left Congress earlier this year to concentrate on running for governor.

As of the close of business Tuesday, Freeman had not qualified for the post, according to the Georgia Secretary of State's office Web site. Qualifying continues through noon Friday for the July 20 primaries in Georgia.
