Three Athens teens indicted in Gainesville murder

GAINESVILLE - A Hall County grand jury has indicted three Athens teens in connection with the murder of a Gainesville man last month.

According to published reports, the grand jury returned an 11-count indictment Thursday against 16-year-old Brian Martin Rivera, 16-year-old Daniel Vilchis-Avala and 17-year-old Nelson Vaca.

Authorities arrested two of the alleged SUR 13 gang members after 67-year-old Ramon Hernandez was found beaten to death at East Ridge Mobile Home Park. They said Hernandez died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head after being beaten during an apparent robbery on March 16. A co-worker found Hernandez's body after he failed to show up for work.

Vilchis-Avala and Vaca remain in jail without bond. Rivera remains at large.
