COMMERCE - The funeral for a former Jackson County State Court Solicitor will be held Saturday.
Eddie Benton, who was 64, died Wednesday at BJC Medical Center in Commerce.
Benton was also a former Commerce City Attorney and at one time practiced law in Gainesville.
He was a Kiwanis Club member where he had 31 years of perfect attendance. Benton was an active member of Gideons International and worked with several mission and prayer groups; a volunteer with Good News Clinic and Young Life organizations; and also volunteered with a reading program for young children.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2:00 at First Baptist Church of Commerce.
