DAWSONVILLE - One of two defendants in a Dawson County double-homicide has agreed to testify against the other.

Northeastern Judicial Circuit District Attorney Lee Darragh confirmed Tuesday that Benjamin Kelly Mullinax has pleaded guilty in the murders of a south Georgia couple near Dawsonville in December.

Darragh said Mullinax will be eligible for parole in 30 years. The case against the other defendant, Jesse James Kilgore, the alleged trigger man, is pending.

Kilgore, 40, and Mullinax, 27, both of Dawsonville, are charged with killing Jennifer Budrawich and her husband, Paul. The bodies of the Effingham County couple were found in the Amicalola River about a week before Christmas.

Authorities were alerted to the murders by a frantic 911 call from Jennifer Budrawich. Kilgore is her stepfather and the father of one of her children.

At the time they were killed, the Budrawichs were making one of their regular visits to northeast Georgia to see Mrs. Budrawich's children who were living with relatives in the area.
