Forsyth 7th grader suspended in sexting incident

CUMMING - A Forsyth County 7th grade girl is in trouble for sending nude photos of herself via her cell phone to boys at three Forsyth County middle schools.

Schools spokesperson Jennifer Caracciolo said school officials were alerted to the event Monday by another student. After an investigation by school officials and law enforcement officers, the girl was suspended Tuesday for 10 days from Liberty Middle School.

The recipients of the photos were not punished, according to Caracciolo.

"The male students did not forward on the photos, they did not show the photos," said Caracciolo. "In fact, one of the students, upon receiving the photo deleted it immediately."

Each boy attends a different middle school in the county...Liberty Middle, Otwell Middle and Vickery Creek Middle.

The female student also faces action by a disciplinary tribunal. Caracciolo said it is possible the student could be sent to the county alternative school.

Caracciolo noted that sexting has become prevalent in schools across the nation, and she said Forsyth County has made strong efforts this school year to warn parents and students about the dangers of sexting.
