MARIETTA - Police from as far away as California gathered to honor a Georgia state patrol trooper who was gunned down earlier this week.
The trooper, 38-year-old Chadwick LeCroy, was mourned at a funeral service Friday at the Roswell Street Baptist Church and buried in Marietta.
Thousands of law enforcement officials joined the funeral procession, which included a bagpiper and a horse-drawn caisson carrying the slain trooper's body. Police helicopters flew in salute overheard the mourners.
Gregory Favors has been charged with murder in LeCroy's death. He's accused of shooting the trooper after crashing his vehicle at the end of a chase Monday.
