ELBERTON - A Canadian company that makes flexible insulation for clothing plans to open a plant in Elberton and hopes to begin hiring soon.
Zeroloft, a company based in Toronto, recently bought the building that once housed a silk mill. Anna Grant Jones, director of Elbert County's development authority, says the company bought the building because it's been well-maintained and suits the company's needs. She says the company will hire about 30 workers.
She says Zeroloft workers will sew insulation inside clothing made for firefighters and utility workers. The company also makes heavy-duty cold weather-wear for sportsmen.
The former silk mill was used most recently as a commercial warehouse after North Carolina-based Glen Raven Inc. stopped using the facility for creating textiles.
