Pharmacies targeted by forger

GAINESVILLE - Gainesville police are looking for the person who faxed forged prescriptions to four different pharmacies in the city last week.

Lt. Carol Martin said all of the prescriptions were for pain medication.

"The pharmacists realized, based on how the prescriptions were written out, that they were forgeries and did not fill them, and instead notified the Gainesville Police Department," said Martin.

The pharmacies that were targeted were McElveen's, Riverside, Dixie City and Wal-Mart. Martin said investigators think one person is responsible for all four forged prescriptions.
