Lawrenceville woman charged with attempted murder

By The Associated Press
LAWRENCEVILLE - Gwinnett County police have arrested a woman and charged her with trying to kill her 4-year-old daughter.

Police said Christina Tetteh, 41, called 911 saying she thought her daughter was dead. Officers arrived at the home at 919 Tumlin Trace in unincorporated Lawrenceville around 1 a.m. and found the child outside in a nearby area covered by kudzu.

The child was alive and crying and was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center. She has been placed in state custody until Gwinnett County Juvenile court can hold a hearing to determine appropriate arrangements.

Detectives interviewing Tetteh concluded she had tried to suffocate her daughter. Tetteh was arrested and charged with one count of criminal attempt to commit murder. She was being held in the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
