Young Harris hires Herrmann to revive program

By The Associated Press
YOUNG HARRIS -- Former Georgia assistant and interim coach Pete Herrmann, also the former coach at Navy, has been selected to revive the basketball program at Young Harris College.

Young Harris will begin its first season in four decades in 2010-11. The North Georgia college, a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association, has applied for NCAA Division II membership.

Young Harris discontinued basketball in 1969.

Herrmann was Georgia's top assistant coach for six years, including the last 12 games of the 2008-09 season as interim head coach. He coached at Navy from 1986-92 and took a team led by David Robinson to the NCAA tournament.
