White Co. Manager's fate still undetermined following arrest

By Dean Dyer/WRWH
CLEVELAND - The fate of White County Manager Alton Brown is still undetermined following an executive session by the White County Commissioners Wednesday.

Authorities said 62-year-old Brown was arrested early Saturday morning and was charged with open Container and Driving Under The Influence. They said Brown was taken to the White County Detention Center where he posted bond.

Brown has been placed on paid administrative leave since the incident.

Following the one hour executive session, Commissioner Craig Bryant said they have more facts to sort out.

"We are still researching the facts, we have some more information coming in and we have just not made any decision," Bryant said.

Also during Wednesday's meeting, White County Sheriff Neal Walden was summoned to the commissioners office. Walden left a short time later carrying a hand gun. When asked by reporters about the weapon, Walden said the commissioners gave it to him.

Neither he nor Commissioner Bryant would comment further about the gun. Current day-to-day operations for the county are being handled by Commission Chairman Travis Turner.

Brown has refused to comment on the incident.
