Gainesville accident investigation continues

By Staff
GAINESVILLE - Police have identified two people injured in a serious accident at the intersection of Thompson Bridge Road and Enota Avenue Thursday afternoon.

Carl Ridley of Gainesville and a passenger in his vehicle, Betty Nix of Cornelia, were taken by air ambulance to Grady Hospital in Atlanta. There is no word on the conditions of either patient at this time.

"Both of those patients were trapped upon arrival of fire crews," Gainesville Fire Chief Jon Canada said Thursday. "Both patients had to be extricated."

Gainesville police have determined that a 2002 Mitsubishi driven by Tamara Davis of Gainesville was traveling north on Thompson Bridge Road in the left lane. As Davis approached the Enota Avenue intersection, a 2000 Mercedes-Benz driven by Ridley of Gainesville made a left turn from the southbound side of Thompson Bridge Road into the path of Davis.

Davis apparently was not injured in the crash. The investigation is continuing.
