Boys basketball: Falcons rebound with win over Berkmar

SUWANEE - Flowery Branch started strong and got 24 points from Ishmael Hollis in taking a 62-53 win over Berkmar Tuesday in the Jared Cook Holiday Classic at North Gwinnett high School.

The Falcons (4-3) opened with a 15-8 first quarter and maintained a lead the rest of the way. Flowery Branch led 30-23 at halftime and 50-38 heading into the fourth quarter.

Efran Rivera added 11 points for the Falcons. Byron Keith had 10 points and Zach Barrett nine for Flowery Branch.

Yonel Brown paced Berkmar with a game-high 27 points. Brandon Thompson added 14 for Berkmar.

With the win Flowery Branch advanced to the consolation bracket of the tournament. The Falcons next will play the winner of Spartanburg (SC)/Dacula at 1:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
