White County Is StormReady

(Cleveland)-White County has been designated a StormReady County, by the National Weather Service. Storm Ready is a Weather Service program designed to recognize counties that have reached a high level of severe weather preparedness.

To be recognized as StormReady  a county must meet criteria established jointly between the National Weather Service and state and local emergency management officials. The announcement of the designation was made this
week at the county commission meeting. 


Lans Rothfusz, Meteorologist In Charge with the National Weather Service  in Peachtree City said white county has worked hard to reach this designation. The criteria include, having a local 24-hour warning point and an emergency operation center, having multiple ways to alert the public and having trained spotters.

Rothfusz said not every county in Georgia has made the grade to StormReady, White County is now one of 69 County is the state with the distinction.
