Volleyball: Johnson sweeps North Hall, Pickens

JASPER -- The Johnson volleyball team swept a Region 7-AAA tri-meet in Jasper on Tuesday, defeating Pickens and North Hall.

The Lady Knights (12-6, 3-1 Region 7-AAA) eased past the Lady Dragons in their first match, 2-0 (25-13, 25-12).

Jordan Gustavel led Johnson with five kills and six aces. Katie Clark also had four kills and six aces, while Laura Gazaway added 10 digs.

The Lady Knights then pulled off a 2-1 win over the Lady Trojans (25-19, 24-26, 25-19).

Gustavel again played well, tallying 13 kills, while Shelley Farley added 17 assists and eight digs. Clark also finished with four blocks and five aces.

Meanwhile, North Hall swept Pickens in two hotly-contested sets in its other match (26-24, 25-21).

Kelsey Marlatt had 14 digs and five aces to lead the Lady Trojans. Anna Marchman also added five kills.

Johnson plays again Tuesday at West Hall.
