3rd suspect arrested in copper thefts

By The Associated Press
TOCCOA - Authorities have arrested a third suspect on charges of dismantling and stealing parts of air conditioning units and car engines in northeast Georgia in an effort to get the copper from them.

23-year-old Justin Joyner of Toccoa, like the other suspects, is charged with theft by taking and criminal damage to property.

Also charged in the case are Daniel Arnot, 23, and Corey Beard, 20, both of Eastanollee. Arnot also faces theft charges in Hall County.

Investigators believe the trio has been stealing air conditioners, catalytic converters and other car parts in Hart, Stephens and Hall counties.

Capt. Jimmy Mize of the Stephens County Sheriff's Office said last week in announcing the arrests of Arnot and Beard that they were caught on camera getting ready to dismantle an air conditioning unit.
