Warrant issued in connection to South Hall mobile home fire

By B.J. Williams
GAINESVILLE - Authorities have issued a warrant for the suspect in connection with a mobile home fire in South Hall County early Friday morning.

Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle said 20-year-old James Michael Boyd of Hialeah, Fla., is facing felony charges.

"There will not be a charge of arson," Cagle said. "The charges that we will be seeking will be criminal damage to property."

Cagle said Boyd was using the mobile home on Beard's Road as a party house.

"This subject was using a tiki torch to burn down wasps' nests in the mobile home," Cagle said. "The tiki torch fell over into several bags of trash and caught the trash on fire."

Cagle added Boyd apparently thought the fire was out, but it reignited and authorities had to be called to the scene.

The mobile home was destroyed.
