GAINESVILLE - That severe thunderstorm warning and the weather that brought it made its presence known Tuesday afternoon in Gainesville and surrounding Hall County.
There were numerous reports of trees down and power out in the area and Adam Solias saw the power of the storm first hand.
A large hardwood tree in his front yard fell over during a high wind and hit his house and car as he watched.
"I just saw the tree fall on the house; I was with my baby in my arms sitting on the couch and I just ran," Solias said. "It was windy for about five minutes before the tree fell; it was the wind, it was blowing real hard."
Solias and his child escaped injury, the front of his house was damaged and the tree also fell on an SUV parked in front of the house at the corner of Lakeview Drive and Park Hill Drive.
Hall County was under the storm warning, which lasted about half an hour. Hall remained under a tornado watch until early evening.
