SNELLVILLE -- The Class AA No. 3-ranked Buford girls basketball team took home the title of the Deep South Classic Tuesday night routing Class AAAAA Peachtree Ridge 55-25 in the championship game.
The Lady Wolves (7-1) outscored Peachtree Ridge 16-3 in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Buford held Peachtree Ridge (5-5) to just 11 second half points.
The game was close at halftime as Buford led the Lady Lions 18-14. But the Lady Wolves used a 21-8 third quarter to blow the game open and then put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter.
Andraya Carter led Buford with 12 points. Blanche Alverson and Jocelyn Danley each had nine points for the Lady Wolves.
Tori Nwadiogbu led Peachtree Ridge with six points.
Buford next will play at Class AAA No. 5 Gainesville at 4 p.m. on the road.
