Final days of early/advance voting

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
GAINESVILLE - Early/advance voting ends in Georgia for the Dec. 2 runoffs on Wednesday in most counties because of the Thanksgiving holidays, and although most Hall County offices will also be closed Wednesday the elections office will not.

Hall County's administrative offices will be closed Nov. 26 for a furlough day and Nov. 27-28 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Wednesday is the second in a series of mandated unpaid furlough days for county workers as the county tries to compensate for revenue shortfalls due to the struggling economy. The county commission mandated that workers take one unpaid day off per month. The first was the day before Halloween.

All county administrative offices will be closed on Nov. 26 for this purpose. Public safety, landfill and some public works personnel will operate as usual.
The Elections Office will not participate in the furlough day, but will be closed Thanksgiving Day and Nov. 28.

Advance Voting began Monday at the elections office Monday and will continue through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 24-26 at at 2285 Browns Bridge Road at the intersection of Browns Bridge and Skelton roads.
