Hall County voters turn out for the end of early voting

GAINESVILLE - It was a mad dash to the Hall County Elections office on the last day of early voting.

Interim Elections Director Charlotte Sosebee-Hunter said 1,527 people waited until Friday to cast their ballots. She said 18,213 people had cast a ballot since early voting began.

"If it turns out the way it did today each day, we will be well beyond the 25,000 mark," Sosebee-Hunter said.

Despite the large numbers, she said Hall County voters only had an average wait time of 15 minutes.

"I think the county commissioners can be proud of the early preparation and relocating us to an area where we have more space," she said.

Advance voting begins next week.

Sosebee-Hunter said for some counties, the start of advance voting will mean longer hours at the elections office and the opening of more voting locations, but she said nothing will change next week for the Hall County Elections office.
