Regional magazine signs major distribution deal

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
ROYSTON - Northeast Georgia Living magazine, based in Royston and published by Marketing and Media Resources, has inked a distribution agreement with Source Interlink. Starting with the upcoming issue, the publication will be available in all Borders, Barnes and Noble, and B. Dalton Bookstores in the Southeast.

Source Interlink is a leading marketer and merchandiser of family entertainment products, including magazines, CDs, and DVDs. Operating in 110,000 retail storefronts in more than 1,000 retail chains, an estimated 500 million consumers per week pass through retail checkouts managed by Source Interlink.

"We do a great job of spotlighting the people and places that make Northeast Georgia so unique," explains the magazine's publisher, Melissa Herndon. "Now thousands more readers will have an opportunity to see what makes this area special. We believe the increased visibility will definitely have a positive effect on the 17 counties we cover, and also provide our advertisers with even more reach."

Founded in 2000, the magazine is published quarterly and covers Banks, Barrow, Clarke, Dawson, Elbert, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Jackson, Lumpkin, Madison, Rabun, Towns, Stephens, Union, and White counties. Prior to being picked up by Source Interlink, Northeast Georgia Living had a readership of more than 25,000. In 2006, a distribution agreement with The News Group saw the publication's audience reach beyond its coverage area to all of Georgia plus neighboring states.

"Obviously these distributors appreciate the magazine and they know there is a readership market far beyond our local boundaries," says Herndon. "This is a tribute to all the people who've been a part of our success over the past seven years, and of course to the beauty and character of the place we all call home."
