Lane shift planned at Chestnut Mountain intersection

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
GAINESVILLE - Watch for a traffic lane realignment Tuesday at a busy Chestnut Mountain intersection: Martin Road and Winder Highway.

The state Department of Transportation plans to temporarily shift traffic on Martin Road away from the CVS side of the road in order to raise the grade at the approach to Winder Highway.

"Tuesday the 11th, contractors will scoot Martin Road over, away from the CVS Store as it intersects with Winder Highway," DOT Communications Officer Teri Pope said. "The grade of Winder Highway will be higher so traffic must be scooted over so crews can raise Martin Road to meet the new section of Winder Highway. Once Martin Road is raised traffic will be scooted back over onto the newly built section."
