Hunt rings NASDAQ closing bell

NEW YORK - GB&T Bancshares, Inc. Chief Executive Officer Richard Hunt presided over The NASDAQ Stock Market Closing Bell ceremonies at the NASDAQ MarketSite in New York Monday.

GB&T Bancshares, headquartered in Gainesville, is a $1.8 billion bank holding company with 30 full-service bank offices in 13 counties in Georgia. The company's lead bank, Gainesville Bank & Trust, was founded in 1989. The holding company, GB&T Bancshares, was established in 1998.

"It's an honor to be selected by NASDAQ to participate in the close of trading for the day," said Hunt last week. "I also think this sends a positive message to our investors and shareholders of the success that we have accomplished at GB&T Bancshares a success made possible by the dedicated efforts of our employees, directors, and by our loyal customers."

GB&T's assets have grown from $7 million in 1988, when it opened, to nearly $2 billion today.
