Cereal company moving to Macon

<p>A California cereal company is planning to move to the former Keebler bakery in Macon, city officials announced Friday.</p><p>Cereal Products Inc., an Oakland, Calif.-based company that produces rice flour, crisp rice and corn flakes, is buying the 500,000-square-foot facility in the city's Allied Industrial Park. The move means at least 225 jobs for the city, including position for former Keebler workers, company officials said.</p><p>The Keebler cookie and cracker bakery announced its closure in March 2005, displacing 400 workers. Cereal Products expects to move into the building by early fall.</p><p>The new plant more than doubles the size of the company, which currently has 85 workers in its 120,000-square-foot California facility.</p><p>"We have just been turning business away for some time," Cereal Products CEO Sterling Savely said. "Right now we don't know where we're going to produce all the things we're committed to produce in 2007. That's a good problem to have."</p><p>___</p><p>HASH(0x1cd9ba4)</p>
