370 new housing units planned in Gainesville

GAINESVILLE - Nearly 400 new apartments, townhouses and condominiums are set for consideration by the Gainesville Planning and Appeals Board early next month.

According to the agenda for the meeting, the largest of the projects calls for 257 townhomes in the White Sulphur Road/Waters Road/Crescent Drive area. That's 37 fewer than the 294 originally proposed. This request was returned to the planning board by the city council for further review.

Eighty-seven condominiums would be built at Pine Valley Road and Pine Valley Lane and 22 condominiums would go up on Piedmont Road at Bradford Street.

In addition, a four-unit apartment complex is planned on Forrest Avenue near Bradford Street.

The planners meet August 8.
