No more $3.30-a-gallon gas

GAINESVILLE - The convenience store in west Gainesville, selling regular, unleaded for $3.30-a-gallon Wednesday morning, had lowered the price to $2.99 by midafternoon.

GeorgiaGasPrices.com had listed the price at the Shell store on Jewell Parkway as the highest in the state Wednesday.

No one at the store would comment but a midafternoon check showed the price had been lowered and was once again comparable to that being charged at other outlets in Gainesville.

By Thursday morning, an outlet on I-20 near Crawfordville was at the top of the list on GeorgiaGasPrices.com, at $3.19 a gallon. But, six of the places with the highest prices in the state are in the Gainesville area.

At $3.15, the BP store at Georgia 400 & Georgia 53 in Dawsonville is second on the list followed by three outlets in Athens, all at $3.10: a Texaco on Atlanta Highway, a BP on Hawthorne Avenue, and a BP on Alps Road at Baxter Street. Rounding out the top 15 at $3.09 are ten outlets, including two in Winder: a BP on Georgia 211 at Rockwell Church Road and a BP on Georgia 316 at Georgia 81.
