<p>Dish Network operator EchoStar Communications Corp. said Thursday it would open a satellite equipment repair center in Spartanburg, S.C., adding more than 1,300 full-time workers.</p><p>Mark Jackson, President of EchoStar Technologies, said the expansion would help keep up with customer growth and serve subscribers on the East Coast.</p><p>Englewood-based EchoStar has 12.2 million satellite television customers.</p><p>The 316,000-square-foot repair center was scheduled to open at the end of the summer. EchoStar also has service centers in Denver, Atlanta and El Paso, Texas.</p><p>"Any time you add 1,300 jobs to an area, it's going to have a positive impact on that region's economy," Gov. Mark Sanford said in a written statement.</p><p>EchoStar's worldwide work force totals 20,000.</p>
