BROOKLYN, Mich. - Kasey Kahne earned his fourth Nextel Cup victory of the season Sunday by taking the rain-abbreviated 3-M Performance 400 at Michigan International Speedway.
Kahne started from the pole but fell back to 38th in the 43-car field with 47 laps completed. He dropped a lap behind when he had to make a green-flag stop after debris accumulated on his grill, causing his engine to overheat.
Kahne drove into the lead on lap 117 and was ahead when the race was called by rain with 71 laps remaining.
Carl Edwards was second in his best finish of the season. Dale Earnhardt Junior was third, followed by Greg Biffle, Reed Sorenson and series points leader Jimmie Johnson.
