GAINESVILLE - Four people were arrested early Wednesday by Gainesville police on drug charges after an incident that began with a report of shots fired at the McDonald's on Jewell Parkway.

But, when police got there, about 3:10, the two vehicles and their occupants were no where to be found.

Lt. Gary Entrekin says a short time later officers got a report about a disturbance at the Quick Trip on Athens Street involving the same two vehicles. Lt. Entrekin says the suspects were stopped on Ridge Road and arrested.

He says officers confiscated a gun and two "clear baggies" of suspected methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia .

Lt. Entrekin says 25-year-old Marin Yizar of Oakwood and 21-year-old Thomas Broome and Christopher Jones and Victor Darragan, both 17, all of Gainesville, are each charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. In addition, Yizar was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
