DAHLONEGA - Three of the five valedictorians at North Georgia College & State University this spring are from Gainesville - and a Gainesville woman graduated with her second set of dual degrees.
The valedictorians from Gainesville are: Mary Baxter, bachelor's in Spanish; Elizabeth Broman, biology, and who starts at the Medical College of Georgia in August; and Joshua Scoggins, finance. Baxter and Broman were roommates all four years at NGCSU and both are North Hall High School graduates.
"DUAL" DUAL DEGREES
A North Hall High School graduate recently graduated from NGCSU as a "dual degree" recipient.
College officials say 32-year-old Debbie Rana Martin has worked her way through college since before 2000 doing graphic design and information technology work at NGCSU.
This is not the first time she has accomplished the two-degree feat: she received two associate's degrees at Gainesville State College.
In addition, Martin graduated from North Georgia cum laude with a 3.68 GPA.
