Lakeview falls in regular season finale

GAINESVILLE - The Lakeview boys basketball team struggled offensively in the second half to fall to Greenforest in its regular season final.

The Lions (15-8) were out scored 21-8 in the third quarter in their 76-63 loss to Greenforest(19-7).

Lakeview looked to be playing solid basketball at the beginning of the third quarter by jumping out to a 41-32 lead.

Then the Lions started to lose focus and Greenforest took advantage by going on a 20-0 run to take a 52-41 lead.

In the fourth quarter the Lions' defense was unable to stop Greenforest's offense. Greenforest outscored Lakeview 24-20 in the fourth.

There were 59 total fouls called in the game. 30 fouls for Lakeview and 29 for Greenforest.

The Lions were led by Deke Rochester with 23 points and 9 rebounds points and David Pruett had 16 points.

Greenforest had four players in double figures. Leading the way was Cedric Brown with 25 points.

Jonathon Merit had 13 points, James Johnson had 14 points, and Chris Griffin had 12 points and 11 boards.
