JASPER - The Pickens girls basketball won its second straight Region 7-AAA West title after beating White County 67-48 Friday night.
The Dragonettes (14-11, 7-1 subregion) went just 4-4 down the stretch but won when they needed too in order to win the subregion.
Kala Turner lead Pickens with 13 points. Meagan Stephens and Jenna Jarrett each had 12 points, and Allison Tennant had 11 for the Dragonettes.
Meagan Stephens tied a school record for Pickens with 14 assists. The Dragonettes also shot a blistering 58 percent from the field.
Pickens raced out to a quick 14-4 lead and never looked back. White County (16-8, 4-4) battled back to trail just 24-20 at halftime.
But, the Dragonettes outscored White 25-12 in the third quarter to take a 49-32 lead cruised the rest of the way.
