Lady Knights ready to defend 7-AAA title

GAINESVILLE - In the Region 7-AAA Tournament the Johnson girls basketball team defeated North Hall to advance to the region championship game.

The Lady Knights used a big second quarter to separate themselves and pull away to a 66-57 win over the Lady Trojans.

Johnson outscored North Hall 19-8 in the second quarter and took a 39-23 lead at the break.

In the third quarter the Lady Knights depth paid off. Johnson used 12 different players and were able to rest its players while North Hall had used only 8 players.

With the Lady knights using their depth they continued to extend their lead and held a 55-35 lead at the end of the quarter.

North Hall was unable to pull within striking distance of Johnson in the fourth quarter.

Johnson had four players in double figures with Krystyn Young leading the way with 13 points. Whitney Randolph, Brooke Baker, and Kaylyn Young each had 11 points.

North Hall's Laticia Davenport was the high scorer in the game with 28 points. Brittney Crews had 10 poins and Beth Ann Hamilton finished with 10 points.

With the win, Johnson secured a home playoff game next week and will play Monday at Gainesville High School in the Region Championship game at 7:00 P.M.
