JEFFERSON - After a 2-7 start to the season, just getting a chance to defend their Region 8-A title was all the Lakeview Academy girls basketball team wanted.
That goal crumbled against Jefferson Friday in the region semifinals and the Lady Lions will now take a No. 4 seed out of the region into next week's state tournament after falling 46-39 to Social Circle Saturday in the consolation game.
Nadia Muhanna paced Lakeview (12-11) with 16 points. Janell Francis added 13 points for the Lady Lions.
Social Circle outscored Lakeview 25-18 in the second half to get the win.
