GAINESVILLE - Gainesville Mayor Bob Hamrick says Midtown is a possible re-location spot for the Green Street post office once redevelopment there begins next year.
Midtown is now set up as a special tax district to entice developers to rebuild and renovate.
"We could reach some kind of agreement with the post office Department to relocate it in the Midtown section," Hamrick said Thursday after a city council work session. Hamrick added the only real solution to Green Street's traffic problem at the post office is to move the post office.
The matter - which has been discussed for years - has been the subject of more talk this fall by candidates running for a city council and Congress.
